Neff Leads Out of Pelly

Hugh Neff, Gerry Willometzer, and William Kleedehn were first to leave the Pelly Crossing checkpoint, with Neff out at 07:30 Monday. It is 201 trail miles from Pelly Crossing to the 36-hour mandatory rest in Dawson, and that includes the climb up 4,000-ft. King Solomon’s Dome. Catherine Pinard scratched.

We flew by Brent resting his dogs along the trail between Carmacks and Pelly Crossing at 11:00 on Monday. He arrived at Pelly Crossing 19:30 Monday and departed a brief 17 minutes later, sled piled high with two days and 201 miles worth of provisions. The dogs were calm, and Brent was pleased with their performance and demeanor. He had broken a ski pole and had banged-up his knee in the jumble ice of the Yukon, but he appeared unfazed. Wearing only glove liners at -30F, he left Pelly Crossing in 11th place.

Race official Josh Horst checks the time and records Brent's arrival in Pelly Crossing.

A Greg Parvin dog enjoys some well-deserved rest at Pelly Crossing.

Great to read the updates, I see the makings of a move back to the front. Looking forward to seeing the posts and the photos as always.

Go get 'em Brent!!

Thanks for the uppates - you're ahead of the YQ website - they've just (14 feb 9:30 pacific time) updated the standings to show Brent in 11th.

Who is the 2nd dog dropped? Is the dog ok?

I hope Brent was wearing a little something more than just glove liners when he left Pelly Crossing. ;)

cheers,
your fan,
-Pat

Brent, Ken, Greg & Zach:

Awesome work guys! I think I'm close to wearing out the "refresh" button on the YQ site. Looks like it'll take Sass about 24 hrs to pull into Dawson. It was great being able to help out at the starting line! Back in Juneau now and following the race as close as I can. Best to all,

Joe Hard

Brent, Ken, Greg & Zach,

Yeehaw! These updates are terrific - Great work guys!

Go Brent and team!

Joe and I had a blast in Whitehorse helping out at the start and seeing Brent off on his adventure. A little sad we won't be there to welcome the team home in Fairbanks.

Hugs to the guys and pats for the dogs,
Anna

love the site. just to let you know on the first blog you say ling ling is silvers offspring, not true, he is the litter mate of madonna and pixie, a very mixed litter

Yeahhhh Brent! You go budddy. Literally.... It's so awesome to see your sweet face all over this Yukon Quest 07, you mushing fool. You are just as crazy as the rest of those other crazies (nice photos Ken!). And good job with the website..... And Brent, what's with the liners? Are your hands cold, pansy?... Can't wait to hear what you're wearing tomorrow.

Ken, Brent.... and team .....

We are so enjoying this site from our warm easy chairs in British Columbia. May speed and safety be part of your game plan.......we are, although, having a hard time sleeping well in our warm water bed at night knowing you're possibly sleeping in your sled bag, however.

AND, it's cool seeing our kid in some of the pics.

God's speed -

Karen & Carroll Horst
Egmont B.C.

Like white on rice, nice work, boys!

Great to see Brent's first Quest shaping up to be a success! Ya-hooo!

Best wishes to the team and their pals helping along the trail!
